The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Promotion Corporation (non-profit organization) was established on September 1, 2005. OIST website.
Okinawa is Japan's southernmost prefecture, consisting of a few dozen, small islands in the southern half of the Nansei Shoto, the island chain which stretches over about one thousand kilometers from Kyushu to Taiwan.

Approximately 60 minutes from Naha Airport, Exit Okinawa Expressway at Ishikawa interchange (No.6). Turn Right and take Root 73 to Nakadomari. Turn left at the sign "Naha" and it will go to Root 58 "Onna Minami bypass". Keep on Onna minami bypass, Root 58, then you will see the "OIST" sign on the hill.
Approximately 90 minutes from Naha Airport, the airpot limousine bus will take you to OIST campus directly.
Approximately 2.5 hours from Naha Airport, to take Bus#120 for Nago at Naha airport and get off the bus at "Daigakuin Daigaku mae" and walk 15 minutes up to hill to the campus.
