We are recruiting for a research assistant with experience in protein purification for characterization and structure determination by X-ray crystallography. The post will be a short term (6 months) position, available immediately, as part of a pilot project: ‘Advancing inhibitors targeting Cathepsin D as a new drug treatment for schistosomiasis’

The work will involve:

– Expression and purification of the target protein for crystallization and subsequent structural characterization by X-ray crystallography with pre-identified inhibitors.

– Protein structure analysis and help with the in silico identification of follow-up compounds.

This position is based at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, with some work conducted in our collaborators group at the Rosalind Franklin Institute on the Harwell campus near Oxford. The project also includes academic and industry partners in Brazil and Switzerland.

The salary is £35,377 to £40,611 (pa)
