Dear CCP4 Community,

We are excited to announce a unique postdoctoral opportunity for a STEM professional to work on cutting-edge AI applications in structural biology through the ARISE2 MSCA-funded fellowship program.

 

Our project, led by the Elofsson and Velankar teams, aims to address computational challenges in predicting large biomacromolecular complexes using AI-based methods like AlphaFold and RoseTTaFold. These advanced models offer transformative insights into protein structure and function, but extending their application to larger complexes (more than two subunits) requires innovative solutions. Our work will focus on:

  • Developing strategies to predict high-quality structure models for large biomacromolecular complexes.

  • Cataloguing biomolecular interactions in the human proteome.

  • Enhancing these datasets using Knowledge Graph (KG) techniques to provide enriched structural and functional annotations. This will enable more efficient data interpretation and knowledge transfer between related proteins.

The methods developed will be tested in collaboration with researchers at EMBL and SciLifeLab cryo-EM and integrative structural biology facilities, ensuring real-world applicability to a broad research community.

 

Location and Duration

  • Primary Location: EMBL-EBI, Cambridge, UK

  • Regular collaborations and visits to SciLifeLab, Stockholm, Sweden are expected.

  • The position is for 3 years.

This is a pre-proposal. In the second step, we will select one candidate by November 12 at the latest, and together with the candidate, we will submit a full proposal by the deadline for the ARISE2 call on November 25.
