My lab and Chuck Farah’s at the University of São Paulo (USP) are seeking a postdoc to join an exciting project focused on applying structural biology to novel and unexplored targets in antibiotic discovery.

This position is part of a broader effort to identify and characterize promising molecular targets by exploiting vulnerabilities uncovered during our basic molecular investigation of bacteria. 

The selected candidate will work within the CEPID B3 project – Biology of Bacteria and Bacteriophages. CEPIDs are excellence centers supported by the most prestigious and competitive grants awarded by FAPESP, Brazil ́s premier funding agency. We are a consortium of over 20 labs with highly complementary skills (from classical genetics to cryoEM, chemical biology and bioinformatics) working together to produce world class molecular microbiology research in Brazil.

For those unfamiliar with it, São Paulo is a true oasis for scientific research in the Global South. It offers excellent working conditions, including one of the most advanced synchrotron sources in the world (https://lnls.cnpem.br/sirius-en/), competitive salaries and a vibrant and motivated community (but which values work-life balance!).
