Postdoc in Structural Biology of Membrane Transporters, New York University School of Medicine, New York City

A postdoc position is available immediately in Da-Neng Wang’s lab at the Skirball Institute of NYU School of Medicine, to study the structure and mechanism of membrane transporters. Projects available include (1) various human SLC transporters involved in cell metabolism, cancer and the immune system and (2) bacterial antibiotic efflux pumps involved in drug resistance. We aim to understand their transport mechanisms by determining cryo-EM structures of the proteins over their entire reaction cycles. Supported by two dedicated and capable biochemistry technicians, multiple stable, purified protein samples are available for immediate structure determination. NYU School of Medicine offers state-of-the-art facilities including a Krios/K3/Falcon 3/Volta microscope, an Arctica/K3 microscope and a high-performance computing center. The cryo-EM core is directed by Dr. Bill Rice, a superb electron microscopist. Our lab closely collaborates with groups for antibody screen/synthesis, activity essays, small molecule synthesis, single molecule FRET and molecular dynamics simulations, providing a stimulating research and training environment.
