Dear colleagues,
We have an exciting opportunity for a PhD position in the field of
structural glycobiology and interdisciplinary research, co-financed by the
Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) and Université Grenoble Alpes in Grenoble, France.
This position is available in the research teams of Anne Imberty at the CERMAV
Institute and Juliette Devos and Matthew Blakeley at the Institut
Laue-Langevin.
The project focuses on investigating the interaction between bacterial
toxins and glycan moieties of glycosphingolipids using neutron macromolecular
crystallography. This research aims to provide valuable insights into pathogen
recognition mechanisms and explore potential alternative treatments to
antibiotics.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a background in biochemistry,
molecular biology, or a related field. As a world-renowned research center
dedicated to neutron science, the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble
operates the most intense pulsed neutron source globally, providing a
continuous supply of neutrons for scientific experiments. Additionally, the
CERMAV Institute in Grenoble is renowned for its research on macromolecules,
including polymers and carbohydrates.
This three-year PhD position offers a comprehensive research experience with
research periods at both the ILL and CERMAV. To apply, please send a single PDF
document to Anne Imberty (anne.imberty@cermav.cnrs.fr), Juliette Devos (devosj@ill.fr), and Matthew
Blakeley (blakeleym@ill.fr).
Your application should include a brief motivation letter, CV, Master
certificate (with scores), a short abstract of your Master thesis, and at least
one contact person who can serve as a reference. If you have any questions or
require further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to the
scientists listed above.
