The Biomolecular
X-ray Crystallography Center
 at
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
 is seeking
a motivated scientist to provide a central service-level support role in the lab. The Center is housed in
the
Department of Structural Biology
 and serves St. Jude researchers in all aspects of X-ray crystallography. 
 
The Ideal Candidate will be:
  • Interested in supporting Center goals towards research, training, and education.
  • A protein crystallographer with expertise in ligand discovery.
  • A well-organized team player that is eager to learn and contribute to a highly collaborative environment. 
Responsibilities:
  • Perform crystallization, crystal optimization, crystal harvesting, data collection, data processing, structure determination, model building and refinement.
  • Provide general user support and training in various aspects of crystallography.
  • Maintain the in-house x-ray diffractometer and train on usage.
  • Provide user support for remote synchrotron data collection.
  • Deliver high quality results and clearly communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Keep detailed records and follow SOPs.
  • Maintain regular attendance during normal business hours.
  • Seeking a flexible team player ready to join a fast-paced and scientifically rigorous Center in support of the Structural Biology Department and St. Jude.
  • Due to the nature of this facility, there will be an occasional need to work onsite during overnight or weekend hours.
This is a stably funded position that is not reliant on grant funding. Additionally, St. Jude is located in Memphis, TN, an affordable city with plenty to offer.
