The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Science at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), a Carnegie R1 research university, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured open-rank
faculty position in biochemistry at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level.

 

Preference will be given to biochemists whose research focuses on post-translational modifications (PTMs) or closely related areas, including protein phosphorylation, glycosylation, acetylation, methylation,
ubiquitination, and other chemical or enzymatic modifications that regulate protein function, stability, localization, signaling, or cellular physiology. Candidates employing proteomics, mass spectrometry, chemical biology, structural biochemistry, molecular
and cellular biochemistry, or complementary emerging approaches are particularly encouraged to apply.

 

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in biochemistry or a closely related field and demonstrate research accomplishments, potential for or a record of external funding, and teaching,
mentoring, collaboration, and communication abilities appropriate to their career stage. Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level must have records of scholarly achievement, teaching and mentoring, and external research support
sufficient to meet UTEP’s requirements for appointment with tenure at the respective rank.
