We are seeking a motivated and experienced student to join our interdisciplinary team.
This is a 3.5-year PhD studentship funded by the School of Life Sciences and Diamond Light Source, starting on
1st October 2026 under the supervision of Prof Mancini and Prof Spencer at the School of Life Sciences and Dr Rohanah Hussain at Diamond Light Source. This
role involves spending approximately 50% of your total studentship based at the national synchrotron facility and 50% at the Sussex Drug Discovery
Centre at Sussex, providing a unique immersion in world-leading research environments.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry and experience in protein expression and purification is essential.
Candidates must have obtained, or be expected to obtain, a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or related field. While
not strictly required, an MSc degree in Structural Biology, Cancer Biology, or Biophysics is considered advantageous for this position.
The student will be able to work independently and as part of a team.
