We are pleased to announce a PDRA position at the ESRF Structural
Biology Group.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to to
in-house structural biology and neurobiology research while
supporting the development of X-ray micro-tomography and other
group activities.
Context & Job Description
ESRF provides state-of-the-art facilities for diffraction,
solution scattering, and cryo-EM experiments. A key part of our
Group is the Biology Laboratory, which supports cloning,
large-scale protein expression, and cell biology research. As a
member of the Partnership on Structural Biology (PSB), our lab
benefits from extensive biophysical and cell biology platforms.
As PDRA, your main responsibilities will be:
- Conduct neurobiology research, focusing on mitochondrial
bioenergetics and neurodegeneration, with an emphasis on
Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis. - Apply ESRF’s multiscale, multimodal beamline capabilities,
including cryo-EM and X-ray bioimaging. - Participate in the development of a new X-ray
micro-tomography setup at the ID30B beamline. - Serve as a Local Contact for external users conducting
research on our Structural Biology beamlines.
Expected Profile
- PhD in biophysics, biology, chemistry, or a closely related
field - Experience with molecular biology and biophysical methods
- Strong background in X-ray crystallography and X-ray/EM
imaging - Research experience in mitochondrial biology and neurobiology
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
and facility users - Proficiency in English (working language at ESRF)
