Dear all,
An immediate
postdoctoral research associate position is available at Dr. Wei Zhang’s
laboratory at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, USA. The successful
candidate will lead experimental design and execution to investigate the
structural transformation of enveloped viruses during membrane
fusion, using molecular virology, cryo-EM, single particle reconstruction,
cryo-ET, subtomogram averaging, and related biochemical and biophysical
methods. This collaborative project is funded by the National Institutes of
Health (NIH) and aims to make breakthrough discoveries and deepen our
understanding of the fundamental aspects of virus entry.
Additionally,
the postdoctoral research associate will have the opportunity to participate in
developing novel technologies to study virus assembly, maturation, interactions
with small molecules, and infection. The position offers the chance to work
with world-class researchers in the Twin Cities through established and
successful collaborations.
Required
Qualifications. Candidates should have: (1) a Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell
biology, microbiology, virology, structural biology, or related field; (2)
published in international peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred
Qualifications. Experience in protein structure determination and strong
computation skills, or working with recombinant protein expression, cell
culture, viruses (BSL-2) is a plus.
We welcome all
applicants who have a passion for research and the drive to learn and
contribute to the field.
Interested
candidates should submit a pdf with cover letter, CV and names/info for three
