a PhD position in Structural Biology is available in the research group of Eva Wolf in Mainz (Germany). Research in the Wolf group is focused
on the structural, biochemical and biophysical analyses of proteins involved in circadian (day-time dependent) regulation. To elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying circadian gene regulation and light synchronization, the PhD student will apply
a wide range of techniques including X-ray crystallography, biochemical and biophysical protein interaction studies, bioinformatics, UV/VIS spectroscopy, protein expression and purification, molecular biology and functional cell-based assays.
The prospective PhD student will be affiliated with the International PhD Program (IPP) of the Mainz Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) and with the
Research Training Group “Genevo” (https://www.genevo-rtg.de/). Candidates
with a strong interest in structural biology, protein biochemistry and structure-function relationship and a significant previous exposure to these research areas during their master education are encouraged to apply.
