Position Description:
A fully funded postdoctoral position is available in Dr.Traci Hall’s lab at the NIEHS/NIH in North Carolina. We are looking for peoplewho are excited to understand how genes are regulated at the RNA level. Wecombine molecular, biochemical, and structural approaches to determine howRNA-binding proteins or RNA modifying enzymes select specific targets and what happenswhen they engage their targets. Better yet, what happens when multiple proteinsselect and work together on RNA targets?
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow who has demonstratedsuccess in structural biology (X-ray crystallography, NMR, cryo-electronmicroscopy) or a biochemist whose background is in RNA biology andepigenetics. Experience with nextgeneration sequencing methods would certainly be a plus.
We enjoy a stimulating environment, surrounded by interactivecolleagues, and we are blessed by long-term collaborations with like-mindedgroups outside the NIEHS. Our group is part of the Epigenetics & Stem CellBiology Laboratory, a department applying different approaches to understandingepigenetic gene regulation. In addition,our lab is adjacent to other structural biology groups, and we shareoutstanding facilities, including crystallization and X-ray facilities, regularsynchrotron access, and a well-established Cryo-EM Core Facility. Furthermore, the Research Triangle area hasvibrant RNA and structural biology communities.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree, strong communicationskills, a passion to drive projects, and publications that indicate a record ofaccomplishment. Candidates must also have fewer than five years of priorpostdoctoral experience.
