Postdoctoral Position in Structure-Function Studies of Toxin-Antitoxin Systems at the University of Oklahoma, Norman OK
 
The Bourne lab at the University of Oklahoma seeks to recruit a postdoctoral scientist with experience in Biochemistry and/or Macromolecular Crystallography and interests in bacterial physiology and/or microbial genetics.  The lab works on bacterial toxin-antitoxin (TA) systems and their physiological significance with a goal of identifying new antibacterial targets.  Current projects include probing the structure and function of diverse TA sequences, and developing screening methodology for understanding the roles of TA systems within bacterial physiology. We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral scientists that adapt quickly and are results-oriented to be part of our growing team.  These individuals should be efficient at multi-tasking, able to manage details of their own work and of students in their training, able to communicate openly and confidently, to be persistent in their research, and to trouble-shoot problems as they arise.  The successful candidates should have experience in cloning, and protein _expression_ and purification; additional experience in protein crystallization and structure determination, biophysical biochemistry, and/or the analysis of protein interactions will be an asset.  The successful applicants must have a strong work ethic and are expected to be productive members of the research team.
