Postdoctoral position in Structure and Function of Sugar Transporting Membrane Proteins

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated postdoc with an interest in working on sugar transporting membrane transporters and with a proven track record in the area of structural and/or functional analysis of membrane proteins. The position is funded from the ERC initially as a one year position. An extension is possible for up to a total maximum of 4 years employment as a postdoc. The position will be open from fall 2017.

The position
The position seeks to strengthen ongoing activities in the laboratory of Assistant Professor Bjørn Panyella Pedersen, related to the function and mechanism of sugar-transporting membrane proteins (mbg.au.dk/bpp). For further details on the position, please contact Bjørn P Pedersen (bpp@mbg.au.dk).

The candidate
A successful candidate has a relevant Ph.D. degree and a solid and documented background in structural biology, biochemistry and/or biophysics. Experience with membrane protein __expression__ and purification, in particular from S. cereviciae is favored, and the candidate must demonstrate an ability and interest to work with membrane proteins with a structural aim. Finally, applicants should be ambitious, show strong collaborative skills, and should also be able to take initiatives and responsibility within the work environment.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics
The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is part of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Aarhus University and comprises research within the areas Molecular Medicine, Structural Biology, Systems Biology, Plant Molecular Biology and Quantitative Genetics. There are currently 220 full time scientific staff and 140 PhD students. The department is responsible for two educations: Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine with yearly uptake of 160 students in total. Formalities and salary range
Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
