Looking for postdoc in structural biology/biochemistry
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is immediately open in the laboratory of Dr. Yizhi Jane Tao at Rice University, Houston, TX, USA. The project is to study RNA virus structure and function using X-ray crystallography, electron microscopy, and other biochemical/biophysical methods. We are particularly interested in mechanisms related to virus assembly, genome replication, and virus-host interaction during infection. Successful applicants are expected to be highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, virology, or structural biology. Prior experiences in protein biochemistry related to protein-protein interaction are preferred.
Our laboratory is equipped with excellent in-house X-ray diffraction facility together with a crystal screening robot. We have regular access to synchrotron radiation at the APS, and there are several JEOL electron microscopes on campus for shared use. Rice University is a private institution located right next to the Texas Medical Center, the home of 47 institutions including Texas Children’s Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Baylor College of Medicine. There is a large structural biology community in Houston that is both intellectually stimulating and supportive. Houston is a large metropolitan city that offers both cultural diversity and low cost of living.
Please send inquiries and applications (CV, a description of research experiences, and three letters of recommendation) to:
