[ccp4bb] Postdoctoral position in York UK - EM map interpretation

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position for a fixed term of up to 36 months to work with Dr Kevin Cowtan on a BBSRC-funded project on automated building of atomic models using electron microscopy data.

The aim of the project is to develop automated computational methods for building atomic models into 3D electron density maps obtained from Electron Microscopy (EM) experiments. You will use your computing background to develop computer software for this task, building on existing methods developed by Dr Cowtan and others, for release as part of the CCP-EM software suite. You will test developments against a library of problem cases, and develop new algorithms to improve the performance of the software. The updated software will be incorporated into the CCP-EM project (www.ccpem.ac.uk), with a graphical user interface.
